Department of Finance
PhD in Finance - Financial Assistance
Admitted students receive a 5-year funding package which includes a tuition waiver and an annual living expense stipend of about $37,000 per year.
This funding is conditional on making satisfactory academic progress and fulfilling their obligations as a research assistant (RA) or a teaching assistant (TA). Partial funding for the 6th year may be provided if the student is ready to go on the job market in that year. Applicants do not need to provide proof of funding and admitted students receive financial support, regardless of nationality.

Additional Benefits
Each student will be provided with office workspace and a one-time technology grant of $1,000, as well as library and academic journals access.
Students are eligible for up to $1,500 (first- and second-year students) or $2,500 (third year and beyond) per year in research expense reimbursement. These funds can be used to support travel, pay submission fees to conferences and journals, and cover other research-related expenses. Additional travel grants may be available from the Graduate College. Gies College of Business also awards merit-based scholarships and fellowships that may be used for travel expenses.
RA Assignment
First year students are assigned as 10-hour per week RAs. Typically, second, fourth, and fifth-year students are assigned as 20-hour per week RAs. Third-year students serve as TAs to fulfill the program requirement that they obtain teaching experience.
