Alumna Sri Mulyani Indrawati appointed Indonesia’s finance minister

Sri Mulyani Indrawati, World Bank managing director, has been appointed the new finance minister for Indonesia. Indrawati earned a PhD in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign when economics was part of the College of Business. She also served as finance minister and chief economic minister from 2005 to 2010, receiving praise for her successful leadership of Indonesia’s economy through the 2008 global financial crisis, before joining the World Bank in 2010.
