The International Journal of Accounting (TIJA) Symposia
The Symposium began in 1967 with the goal of fostering research in international accounting and populating the ranks of scholars who are interested in the field. Since 2003, the Symposium has been held abroad in collaboration with other universities to help benefit by the talents of scholars in different regions of the world.
The Symposium has three objectives:
- Improving the quality of research through an in-depth discussion of six to ten papers
- Learning additional research skills
- Helping to generate new ideas.

2027 Illinois International Accounting Symposium
April 14 - 17, 2027 | University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand
The 2027 TIJA Symposium invites submissions on accounting topics in the broadest sense. The Symposium is open to research across all areas of accounting, auditing, governance, and related disciplines, and to all methodological approaches, provided they are executed to the highest scholarly standards. The 2027 TIJA Symposium theme, Rigorous Accounting Research that Matters Across Borders, reflects TIJA’s commitment to advancing knowledge on issues of societal significance. We particularly welcome work that deepens our understanding of important contemporary challenges facing organizations, markets, institutions, and society. As an international journal, The International Journal of Accounting welcomes contributions from scholars around the world and research that speaks to an international audience, irrespective of the geographical setting from which the evidence is drawn
