Aravinda (Ari) Garimella
Assistant Professor of Business Administration and Ethics and Professional Responsibility Scholar
Aravinda Garimella is an Assistant Professor of Business Administration at the Gies College of Business. She has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the Birla Institute of Technology in India and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of Washington in Seattle. Before pursuing a doctoral degree in information systems, she worked as technology and management consultant with clients in the telecom, healthcare and public sectors in Asia and Europe, where she led several digital transformation projects. Aravinda’s research is at the intersection of technology and access. Her work helps practitioners design better and more equitable digital platforms and systems for communities and organizations. Her research stream in Responsible Artificial Intelligence examines AI-enabled task augmentation and how algorithmic inputs influence human decision making in decentralized financial markets, social media, and consumer relationships. Through her research and teaching, Aravinda is working to advance the role of ethics in the design, deployment and management of algorithms in society.

Database Design and Management (BADM 352) Introduce the modern concepts, techniques and management practices when dealing with data and use of data in organizations. Topics include data modeling, database logical and physical designs, implementation, database administration and web-based database environment. Students will be involved in constructing a database and researching an advanced topic to solidify the learning.
